Short legend of Saint George to read the children

Once upon a time in a very distant kingdom where its inhabitants lived in fear because of a great dragon that frightened everyone and caused damage between the population and the animals.

To reassure him, the villagers decided to give the dragon every day a person in sacrifice. And so a draw was made in which the person who was to be handed over to the dragon was chosen.

One of those days bad luck happened to the king's daughter. She was a young and beautiful princess who was greatly admired by the inhabitants of the town, especially by her father who refused to give her as a sacrifice. When seeing the suffering of the king many citizens offered to replace the princess, but the king refused to others had to pay for the fate of his daughter. In addition, he was aware that his daughter was part of the town and therefore should follow the rules that had been agreed so far.

The princess left the city. Walking unhurriedly in the direction of the great dragon. Suddenly, when I least expected it, a young knight in armor mounted on a white horse appeared. Upon seeing him, the princess told him about the dangers he could suffer while in that place, but the gentleman refused to leave her to her fate and told her that he was there to save her. The knight was named Jorge and he confronted the dragon as soon as he appeared. Both fought a great battle until the knight rammed a large spear into his chest. From the blood that spilled the dragonwas born a beautiful rose bush that Jorge gave to the princess

after winning the battle. And from this legend is born the tradition of giving roses to lovers on April 23.
