A very special chocolate tells us about equality, tolerance towards others and the common good.

A beautiful story by the author Eva María Riber la, the winner of the AMEI Short Story Contest.- Mom, mom, today a new girl came to school. Que - What good love, did you play with her?

- I did not mom, I bit her.

- Did you bite her? But why did you do it? The new girl will be very sad.

- Mommy, I wanted to try it.

- Try it?

- If Mommy, the new girl is chocolate and other children called her black.

- Chocolate? Black? Oh! Honey, I understand. Come, come closer, sit next to me, I want to tell you a story ...

A very special chocolate. Story about equality

Look many years ago, in a very distant country, there was a small village in which its inhabitants lived very sad because the Sun every day shone so strong that they had only the night to be able to go out of their houses. Children could not go to school, dads could not go to work ...

- But mommy, today the sun was shining strong and we went to school ...

- You're right, honey, but look, listen ...

In that village, too the sun shone very brightly, it burned so much, the fields were without flowers, the rivers dried up and if their rays touched the skin of the villagers it produced terrible burns. Then one day a little girl like you told her mother:

- Mommy, tonight I will look for Sun Lord and I will ask him please stop burning our fields, drying our rivers and damaging our skin. He does not scare me, the night will protect me and I will cover myself very well.

The little girl climbed a large mountain very slowly waiting without fear that the Sun Lord appeared on the horizon.

- Lord Sun, Lord Sun!

- Who wakes me up so early ?, Not yet dawn - The voice of the Sun Lord was a bit hoarse but the girl did not get scared and I keep calling him ...

- Sun Lord, Sun Lord please stop burning my people !

Then Lord Sun opened his bright and big eyes, surprised to see a little girl wrapped in colorful fabrics, waking him up so early.

- What are you doing here small? Why are you wearing these fabrics ?, I can barely see you. Should not you be at school? - The Sun Lord asked a little disgusted -

Then the girl explained in detail the reason for his visit.

- If I remove these fabrics, you will burn my clear skin and it will hurt me a lot - Mr. Sun was very thoughtful and after a few minutes to which the girl patiently waited he said: - You are very brave, and you have a big heart because You've only come for you, so I'm going to give you a gift.

He looked in a pocket of his big radiant ball, taking from it some bags that he handed to the girl saying: - Look, inside these bags there are some small magic shields that will protect your skin and all the inhabitants of your village. Your skin will darken and will always be protected against my strong rays. For your fields and your rivers, I will send my friends the clouds to prepare the rainy seasons and do not forget your village.

The little girl thanked Sun Lord for all her gifts and went quickly to the village. The next day, all the inhabitants of the village had already put on their skin the small magical shields that would protect them from the strong solar rays. His skin darkened, they were radiant! And the village returned to normal.

- Mommy, then, does my little friend come from a distant country? - Surely love, your grandparents or your ancestors came from places where the Sun Lord burns a lot and a thin layer of his skin darkens to protect them. That's why you thought your friend was chocolate.

- Thank you mom, tomorrow I will give many kisses to my new friend, I will ask her forgiveness and we will play together. You know mom, her face was radiant.
