The backpack is a short children's fable by Jean de La Fontaine, whose characters are little animals that only criticize each other. Throughout the story, the author reminds us how many times the human being does not see his own shortcomings, but easily criticizes the others.

This story is ideal for teaching children the value of respect and tolerance; instill in them kindness, and acceptance of differences in others. It is also a very good way to encourage the habit of reading in them.

The backpack. Children's tale

They tell that Jupiter, ancient god of the Romans, summoned all the animals of the Earth one day before his throne. I wanted to offer them what they could say, without fear, if anyone had complaints about their appearance or their luck. When they showed up, he asked them, one by one, if they thought they had a defect. If so, he promised to improve them until they were satisfied. "Come here, mona, and you speak in the first place," said the god. Look at all those animals and compare their beauties with yours. Are you really happy? Or do you think, maybe, have a defect? I could help you ... -Do you speak to me, sir? the monk snapped. I defects? I looked in the mirror and saw myself splendid. I have four legs, like everyone else, and my portrait looks beautiful to me. Instead, the bear, did you notice? He has no waist! "Speak to the bear," Jupiter asked.

Everyone believed then that the bear would complain, but no: he praised his figure greatly. "Here I am," said the bear, "with this perfect body that nature gave me. Good luck not to be a mole like the elephant! It is a shapeless mass, without beauty! You should cut off your ears and lengthen your tail! "Let the elephant show up ..." said Jupiter.

This one went ahead and, with a very discreet speech, said very similar things. "Frankly, sir," he said, "I have nothing to complain about, although not everyone can say the same thing. There the ostrich has it, with those ridiculous little ears ... "" May the ostrich pass, "the god continued, already a little tired. "For me, do not get upset," said the bird. I am so proportionate! So fast! I can run at the speed of light! Instead, the giraffe ... with that neck ...

Jupiter made the giraffe pass, who, in turn, said that the gods had been generous with her.

- Thanks to my height, I see the landscapes of the earth and the sky, not like the turtle, that only sees the rubble.

The tortoise, on the other hand, said to have an exceptional physique.

-My carapace is an ideal refuge. When I think of the toad, which has to live in the open ... "" Let the toad pass, "said Jupiter, somewhat fatigued.

So they kept going: the toad accusing the whale lady of being too fat, she was finding the ant very small, who in turn was judged as a colossus compared to the lord worm ...

- Enough! Jupiter exclaimed. It only remains that a blind animal like the mole criticizes the eyes of the eagle. "Precisely," the mole began, "I wanted to say two words: the eagle has a good view, but is not his head coarse?

-This is the last straw! said Jupiter, ending the meeting. Everyone believes they are perfect and think that those who must change are the others.

Then, he sent them away escuchar after hearing them criticize each other

and each one was happy with himself

We are like eagles for our neighbor and like moles for ourselves. Nothing forgives others and, for us, all because we see ourselves with different eyes than the neighbor.

Thus, the creator made us all with saddlebags; he put behind us the backpack of our faults and, in front, the bag of other people's defects.

Moral:

Before criticizing others, we must realize our own shortcomings. Reflect and not judge your neighbor.
