Children by nature, are mostly restless, they love to jump, run, discover, and in that eagerness to enjoy and play they are often hit causing the appearance on their body of bruises, also known as bruises.

In most cases it is due to the continuous falls or accidental blows without consequences suffered by the youngest playing, and that cause this accumulation of blood under the skin, which changes color as it evolves from purple to yellow.

When children show bruised legs

Children are more prone to bruising than others more easily, this may be due to their thin blood vessels or very thin skin that causes bruises when seemingly weak blows .

The legs of children is the place where they most often appear although we can also find them in the knees, arms and less frequently in the head.

How to treat bruises on the legs of children?

Usually these bruises do not hurt and they heal on their own with one to two weeks. Dermatologists advise to apply ice three times a day during the first 48 hours on the area where the hematoma appears.

In case the bruise does not change color for more than 14 days or the pain continues, it would be advisable to go to the pediatrician.

Hematomas in children without cause that causes them

Experts recommend that if these bruises appear for no reason at all, and they occur repeatedly we should consult immediately with the pediatrician because it could be a sign of a deficiency of vitamin K, a symptom of some child's haematological difficulty such as purpura, a low level of platelets, or blood cancer or leukemia.
