The dove and the bee is a short fable written by Rafael Pombo, one of the most important Colombian fabulists. His fables, many of them in verse, have stood the test of time and today children continue to learn with them.

With this fable children can not only approach poetry, but also get a teaching, in this case, that we must do for others what we want others to do for us.

Short story: The bee and the pigeon

Seeing that a little bee was drowning
a tender dove rushes, en and in a rose
that carries it in its beak
save it gracefully.
Shortly after the bee
saw that on the hill

a hunter sing
to the pigeon.
Fly: in the hand
prick it atrocious, and the shot

be vain.
There is no being so miserable
that he can never

pay us a service
that remains in his soul;
There is no greater enjoyment than to prove
that the soul recognizes it.
Morally
: do for others what you want them to do for you.
