To carry out this experiment for children, only half a plastic bottle is needed to inflate a balloon. A homemade and very simple exercise that will help to know a little more the secrets of science.

With this balloon experiment your children will learn one of the basic fundamentals of physics. An easy and fun way to learn.

Materials

  • 1 balloon
  • 1 plastic bottle
  • Scissors
  • 1 bowl of water
Tip: Place the balloon well in the mouth of the bottle so that the air can not escape.

How to inflate a balloon with a bottle, step by step

1. Take a container and fill it with water and then introduce the bottle.

2. Cut out the bottom of a 2-liter bottle and place a balloon in your mouth.

3. Insert the bottle into the container. By pushing it to the bottom we will check how the balloon begins to fill with air.

This happens because when you put the cut-out bottle in the water, the air is trapped between the water and the balloon. When you submerge the bottle, the air takes up less space and that causes the pressure to rise and the balloon begins to swell.
