Learn this series of experiments with balloons to teach your children to understand some of the basic principles of physics.

For this exercise you only need a balloon, some water and a microwave. It is important that you supervise the experiment to avoid any kind of mishap.

Materials

  • 1 balloon
  • Water
  • 1 Microwave
Tip: Do not leave the balloon in the microwave for a long time because it will explode because of the heat.

Experiment: how to inflate a balloon in a microwave, step by step

1. Take a balloon and pour some water inside it.

2. Tie a knot to the balloon so that the water does not come out.

3. Put the balloon in the microwave and heat it for a few seconds. You will see how it is getting bigger little by little.

When the balloon heats up, the water evaporates. Steam increases the volume inside and as it is elastic, the balloon grows.
