Water is an element that holds many mysteries. One of them is that their molecules form a skin capable of joining and floating several wooden sticks. That's why, from Guiainfantil.com we want to show you all the curiosity of this wonderful liquid with a series of experiments with water.

With this experiment for children you can check the effects of the skin of the water and how a simple drop of soap is able to eliminate it in tenths of a second.

Materials

  • 1 crystal fountain
  • Chopsticks
  • Soap
  • Water
Tip: Take a small drop of soap, this way you can see the experiment more clearly.

How water skin forms, step by step

1. Take a crystal dish and fill it with water.

2. Place several chopsticks forming a kind of star in the center of the fountain.

3. With another toothpick, take a drop of soap and pour it in the center of the container. You will see how the chopsticks separate and begin to float freely.

On the surface, water molecules bind more strongly forming a skin. The sticks are attached to this skin, so we can order them easily. When you drop the soap, the skin of the water melts and the chopsticks float freely.
