Mist is one of the atmospheric phenomena that most fascinate children. Do you know how it is formed? In Guiainfantil we show you an experiment to know the formation of fog, step by step.

With this experiment for children you will not only know the factors that influence the formation of the fog, but you will learn to put it into practice to teach your children in your free time.

Materials

  • 1 glass jar
  • 1 strainer
  • 3 ices
  • Hot water
Tip: Let the glass warm up by filling it up with water and then remove a little to see the fog well.

How fog is formed, step by step

1. Take a jug of hot water and fill a wide glass up.

2. Let the glass warm up for 30 seconds and then empty it in half.

3. Put a strainer over the glass and place three ice cubes. You will see how the steam that is below begins to condense.

This is because some of the hot water turns into steam. The steam that is under the ice cools and ends up becoming water, which is called condensation. The small drops of water that remain suspended in the air form the fog.
