When a child has the ability to understand well what he has read, we say that he has good reading comprehension. But there are times that they do not know how to explain what they have read because they have not understood it.

The habit of reading will increase your vocabulary, learn spelling, be curious to learn new concepts, and all together will lead you to have a greater reading comprehension so important when studying.

Children's game to improve reading comprehension

For children to understand a story well, it is best to stage it (we will always choose one according to their age). I have chosen one of my children's poems entitled 'The bunny I wanted to play'.

1. We will make some stickers with the rabbits drawn (above you have some templates to cut, but you can always draw your own bunnies).

2. They will choose their sticker (covered) without being able to see the chosen character until after reading the poem. In case the number of children is greater, or we want to make the game in the classroom, we will make groups of four and there will be stickers for everyone. If the number of children is odd, one will act as the narrator. We will always choose a game in which more than two children are necessarily needed to play. It is very important to have the drawings of our four bunnies exposed in some visible place so that the children do not make mistakes when looking for the playmate.

3. We will glue the corresponding stickers on our foreheads, in such a way that the child will see the rest but not his. Then we will tell you that everyone can start playing the potato circle, but nobody will do it with the white rabbit, so that the child who has that character will feel excluded by the others of the game. Next they will not be able to play with the fat rabbit , but with all others. Later they will not be able to play with the thin rabbit, but they will be able to play among the others. After that, the rabbits will not be able to play with each other, with what being all rabbits, none of them will be able to play. In order to finish all the rabbits will play, regardless of their physical appearance, with which everyone will be integrated into the game and have fun jumping into the ring.

Then we will proceed to read the poetry, indicating that they should pay attention because they can play staging any character.

THE BUNNY WHO WANNA PLAYED

Three bored rabbits

were in the meadow,

and a big white rabbit

came up the slope.

The first one was very fat

the second one was very thin

the third one was tiny

with the blue hair

Do you come to play with me?

Said the rabbit to the fattest, el and the other when seeing his color,

without answering he became deaf.

Do you want us to play together?

Then he asked the thin one, el and the other when seeing his size

soon jumped to another side

Do you want to come and play?

He asked the third rabbit

Of course! he said cheerfully.

And they played without complexes.

The other two looked at each other

and although they wanted to play,

moving away from each other

they got much bored.

We will show children's poetry and each child will represent their character. After playing the game and reading the poem we can do activities of the following type:

1. The story is titled.

a. The jumping bunny

b. The white bunny

c. The bunny I wanted to play

2. How many rabbits are in this poem?

a. 2 rabbits

b. 3 rabbits

c. 4 rabbits

3. Do you want to come and play ?, he says ...

a. The fat rabbit

b. The thin rabbit

c. The white rabbit

4. The white rabbit is also ...

a. Small

b. Fat

c. Large

5. How do you think the white rabbit feels when the other rabbits do not want to play with it?

to. Happy

b. Hungry

c. Sad

6. Finally we can continue with questions:

- What bunny would you have liked to represent?

- Have you felt good with your character?

- Would you change anything in this story? Why?

- Is it better to get bored or play?

- What bunnies do you think had a better time?

We will encourage children to ask questions and give answers to each other. They can finish by coloring the rabbits according to the given physical characteristics. With this type of activities we will make it much easier for children to understand the message.
