  • 1 tall candle
  • 1 candle holder
  • Matches
Tip: Make sure you are in a place sheltered from the wind so that the smoke does not drift or disperse, so you will achieve it more easily.

Experiment: How to light a candle from a distance

1. Light a candle and put it in the holder.

The smoke that comes out of the candle when it is turned off still has traces of wax in gaseous form. The wax is what keeps the candle lit, so if we bring a match to the smoke it can re-ignite the wick.
