During pregnancy, a woman experiences changes in her body that can influence her ability to drive. The growth of the belly, the hormonal variations, alterations in vision and swelling are just some changes that can hinder your skills at the wheel.

Safety for the pregnant woman at the wheel

Before getting behind the wheel, it is important that the woman follows some safety measures:

1- Always use the safety belt, even if the journey is short. For correct positioning, make sure that the lower band is at the level of the groin, below the abdomen, never on the belly, and the upper band between the breasts.

2- Increase the distance between the seat and the dashboard to prevent the belly touching the steering wheel.

3- The headrest must be located at the appropriate height to protect the neck and head of the woman.

4- If possible, adjust the height of the steering wheel towards the woman's chest and not towards the head or abdomen.

5- Keep the airbag activated.

6- On long trips, it is advisable to make stops every 2 hours to rest, feed, stretch your legs and eat something for a few minutes.

7- In case of an accident, it is important to remain calm, ask for help and go to the emergency medical service to check the state of health of both the mother's baby.
