María had been chasing her mother several days with a single request: she needed a costume for Carnival. He approached her at all times, but his mother always had an excuse to ignore it: you have to do homework, I have to prepare dinner, now I'm going to buy it, your little brother needs me ...

There were only 5 days left for the school party and Maria still had nothing to wear. Four days after the celebration, her mother was still busy and did not help her with the disguise. When there were only 2 days left, Maria could not take it anymore and burst into tears inconsolably.

Carnival stories to read to the children

- What happens to you María? - his mother asked him.

- Mom, I've been asking for a costume for my Carnival costume party for several days and you do not listen to me! - protested the girl tearfully.

The mother felt really bad for not paying attention, but she had a solution that would put a smile on Maria's face again.

- We go to the grandmother's house, I have never taught you, but in the attic there is a very special trunk. There we keep all the costumes that the grandmother made when I was little, and they are many because I loved playing dress up. You will love it - sentenced mom - they are beautiful.

Maria's eyes, even with tears, opened wide as they heard the magic words: trunk and costumes. Maria and her mother went to her grandmother's house. When Abu opened the door, Maria passed by almost without a greeting and climbed the steps two by two until she reached the attic.

His mother ran after her and Abu was behind impatient to know what was happening. The mother removed some boxes and an old wooden trunk appeared before her eyes as if it were a pirate treasure. When opening it, small costumes appeared, all of them folded neatly but with a certain naphthalene smell.

- I want to prove this dancer - said Maria. But a few seconds later he realized that it was huge. Lo - I'll try with this clown - he insisted, although he had lost the colors and looked a little faded.

- Ah, this is a princess! - he shouted enthusiastically, but could not get inside because he was very small. Iba Maria was losing patience and enthusiasm as she pulled out one and the other costume and saw that none fit the Carnival dress she wanted. He had sat on the desolate floor when his mother said aloud:

-

My fairy costume!

, Mom's eyes seemed to be 7 years old again as she pulled out the small package that was left at the end of the trunk. Upon opening, beautiful wings emerged that perfectly preserved the glitter and drawings that Abu had made so many years ago. How many times had she put on those beautiful wings and imagined being a fairy who could do magic wherever she went. Maria rose from the ground with agility and ran to put her wings.- I am a butterfly ... I am a fairy ... I am a fairy butterfly, the girl said laughing as she ran around Abu and her mother. Ya Maria no longer took off her wings all day, in fact, her mother had to convince her not to sleep with them, not to spoil. The day of the Carnival party at school was one of the best for Maria, it did not matter to her that her friends wore bright new suits of lion, astronaut or fairytale characters. She was the happiest girl in the world with her magic fairy butterfly wings and did not stop waving her magic wand trying to fulfill the wishes of her friends.

But here the story does not end, do you know what happened after the party? Shhh, do not tell anyone: Mom took the wings, put them on and looked in the mirror. For a moment he seemed to see that girl who dreamed of doing magic.
