How to play 'alphabet soup' with children

Recommended age: From 8 years old

Players:2 or more

How to play:One of the players chooses a theme and writes a grid on a series of words related to it, both vertically, horizontally or diagonally, right or wrong, and some of the letters may overlap. The rest of the grid is filled with random letters.

Then the board with the alphabet soup is discovered to the rest of the players, who must look for the words and point them around them with a circle. When all the words have been found, the points are counted.

For each correct word the player receives a point, who wins a greater number of hits. If there is a tie, whoever has found more words upside down, or more diagonal words wins.

Benefits for children: It is an excellent way to increase the vocabulary of children, helping them to discover new words and relate them to others of the same theme. In addition, to find the most complicated words they will have to reinforce both their spatial perception skills and their knowledge of the letters of the alphabet.
