The day on which the Mother's Day holiday is celebrated varies according to the different countries. In most of the world it is celebrated in May, however, in a few countries the celebration is in October and even in December.

Mother's Day has been celebrated for hundreds of years, already in ancient Greece worshiping Rea, mother of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. Catholics honor the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, for 2000 years, so much so that on December 8 is celebrated the saint of the Immaculate Conception. History of Mother's Day

In the United States, the first suggestion to the creation of Mother's Day occurred in the 19th century, when the writer Julia Ward Howe organized in Boston a meeting of mothers dedicated to peace . From there, the struggle to honor mothers was taken by Anna Jarvis, at the beginning of the 20th century, in a small city in the State of West Virginia.

Accompanied by a group of friends, Anna started a movement to institute a day in which all children could honor their mothers.

However, Mother's Day, as we know it today, is celebrated since 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson declared the party official and placed it on the calendar on the second Sunday of May.
