Many women doubt that bleeding that occurs in the first weeks of pregnancy is bleeding due to implantation or menstruation.

In Guiainfantil.com we give you a series of keys so that you can differentiate one from another, in this way you can leave doubts and know if you are pregnant or not.

The process of fertilization

In order to understand why bleeding occurs during implantation in pregnancy, it is important to know how the process of fertilization takes place.

Fertilization occurs when, after intercourse, the spermatozoa reach the fallopian tubes and the circumstance that the woman is in her fertile days occurs. If this is the case, the sperm will try to enter the egg and merge. Only one usually achieves this and when it occurs the formation of the human zygote, which is the first cell of an organism, occurs. The zygote begins to descend through the fallopian tube into the uterus, but also, in this trip, that unicellular being will be divided into two cells and will give rise to an embryo. During the days that it advances through the fallopian tubes to the uterus, it will continue to divide to form a blastocyst, that is, a structure with many cells. Finally, between 4 and 7 days after fertilization, b the blastocyst is implanted in the endometrial cavity, inside the uterus.

Bleeding from implantation or menstruation? When the fertilized ovum is implanted in the uterus it can cause the rupture of small veins that produce a slight bleeding.

Sometimes this fact can cause alarm in women since, if they know or intuit that they are pregnant, they may think that a spontaneous abortion is occurring or that the pregnancy has not been achieved and it is about menstruation. And it is that, that bleeding usually coincides in many cases with the date on which the rule would arrive.

However, bleeding from implantation in pregnancy and menstruation produces different symptoms and can be differentiated from one another:

-

It usually lasts between two and five days

, never again, sometimes they can be only small spots of blood at a time that usually coincides with the date of menstruation. - Bleeding by implantationis lighter

than that of the ruler and a darker color. - Menstruation usually begins mildly and then increases the level of bleeding, however, in bleeding from implantation, bleeding occurs steadily, is light and does not increase the amount of bleeding.

- The rule can cause more intense pain than bleeding from implantation, although the latter may be accompanied by cramping in the lower abdomen.

If you suspect that the bleeding may be due to the fact that you are pregnant, you can take the pregnancy test. This test and an ultrasound will be the confrum you expect a baby.
