Mexican story for children: The day of the dead

In each November that comes, the grandmother brings us, as always, stories, surprises. Papers chopped with a thousand skulls. Sweetened pink bread and strawberry atole. And immense clumps of flowers of the dead. A comales, tortillas, avocado, cobal, ... also chocolates. Oranges, bananas ...

Later, when we were sitting close to our grandmother, we all listened to their skulls, which told the life of the skeletons and made their stories of the dead laugh. In an cemetery, an orchestra played because all the dead were partying. The ladies with skirts the men in black, wore tie with jacket and hat.

The orchestra played guarachas, boleros, rancheras and dances with a rumba rhythm. Two dead people danced a sad bolero but they became entangled with their skeletons. The dead fly up to the sky. Could it be that clouds are made with bones? The afternoon ends, the verses are taken, the perfume of incense is felt in the air.

The candles draw on the pavement roads that cross to the cemeteries. With music and flowers and with food, in many pantheons there is a fiesta of the dead. The grandmother will come with all her stories and make a new altar of the day of the dead.
