But the star element in the snack time is the sandwich, commonly known as "bocata". Many parents ask me what elements have to make the ideal sandwich, before which I ask several questions.

How would it be a perfect snack for children

1.-Bar or bread loaf? That's the first question we have to ask ourselves. In principle, there is not a big difference in terms of composition between the two, although the traditional bar bread does not require industrial handling (beyond the kneading process), and does not have preservatives or added stabilizers. In addition, not requiring bagging, is more respectful with the environment. For this reason, we opted for the first, especially if it is a good whole grain bread.

2.-What to enter inside? Within the bread we can put a wide range of possibilities. Have you thought about surprising your child with a tortilla sandwich, which includes a little fresh cheese and avocado inside? Play to make your own combinations, it is not mandatory to stick to a sausage. But, if we talk about sausages, doctors opt for two: Iberian ham and low-fat sausages, such as turkey. The Iberian ham, despite what it might seem, has a fatty profile very similar to olive oil. In addition, it provides minerals and vitamins of group B. Therefore, it is very healthy and we will not tire of recommending it.

3.- What to add to soften the sandwich? It is a very widespread practice in some places to add sauces or butter so that the sandwich "passes more easily". I recommend, in line with the Mediterranean style, add a little natural tomato and olive oil. As an alternative, a thin layer of a good spread cheese, light version.

4. -With what material is it necessary to wrap the sandwich? A few years ago, a hoax was launched on the Internet and social networks that said that one side of aluminum foil is toxic. This fact is false. It can be used perfectly to wrap a sandwich. As an alternative, for cold sandwiches we can use a transparent film.

5.-And with what drink do we accompany it? The best thing is to resort to a good glass of water, or a natural juice. In this last section, I also recommend you to be creative, and invent your own drinks incorporating, in addition to fruits. some vegetable that your child likes.
