If parents detect that their child is suffering harassment in social networks or through email from one or several people, what is known as cyberbullying, it is important that they know how they have to react to it.

Not only is it important for them to be able to help their child and give them the emotional support they need, but also to curb that situation that is occurring and prevent the harassers from continuing to act freely and with impunity within any digital platform and protected in the anonymity that they provide them.

How parents can report the cyberbullying of their children

Most of the time, users can not remove the contents that a third person posted on the Internet to humiliate or mock another, even when they have collaboration who has been a stalker, since sometimes this content has been disclosed by third, fourth or fifth persons.

Parents can resort to reporting to the social network where abuse is occurring, and reporting the harassment to which their child is being subjected so that appropriate measures are taken. In the case of email, the providers of these services also have a whistleblower channel if we suspect that someone has entered our email without permission.

If the situation is serious, it is convenient for parents to go to the State Security Forces so that they can identify their son's harasser and can make him available to justice.

What evidence should be provided?

The police investigation will be more effective and faster if the parents provide evidence of what is happening. For this it is convenient to store conversations, messages, images or videos that are related to the facts. However, in some cases these tests may not have judicial validity if there is no absolute truth about their origin or have been subject to manipulation. In any case, all the evidence that can be provided is essential to be able to stop the situation of harassment to which the child is being subjected.

In other cases, only those Internet service providers may have those tests that will have to be requested judicially.
