Once the exclusive breastfeeding ends, according to experts in the sixth month of life, solid foods should be introduced gradually, following the nutritional and nutritional needs of the small ones, and maintaining the contribution of breast milk or formula until, at least, two years of life.
According to the specialists of the National Institute of Pediatrics of Mexico and the Spanish Association of Pediatrics, fruits, vegetables and cereals are included in the baby's diet from the sixth month, while meats, fish, legumes and egg are advised from the eighth.
Types of food in the eighth month of the baby
When the child reaches eight months the meats, fish and eggscan be introduced. The INP advises the meat of chicken and veal, well ground or in purees, like the fish. For the egg, it is better to start with the cooked yolk.
As for the amounts, it is recommended to give one or two small tablespoons of these foods once or twice a day, interspersed with three or more spoons of vegetables, fruits and cereals. It is advisable that the meat and fish are prepared first by themselves to check the tolerance of the small one, before mixing it with vegetables.
Starting this month the patterns of three daily meals should be established with complementary foods, so that the baby adapts to the schedules of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
