With experiments Leisure Children can learn some of the main secrets of physics and then teach it to your children. In this way, they will learn science in a fun way.

With this experiment with water, your children will discover the phenomenon of refraction. Go ahead and carry out the children's experiments that we propose in Guiainfantil.com

Materials

  • 1 crystal glass
  • 1 coin
  • Water
Tip: You can take this experiment to perform a magic trick.

Experiment to see how a coin disappears with water, step by step

1. Grab a glass cup and a jug of water.

2. Insert a coin into the bottom of the cup.

3. Fill the glass with water. As you can see, the coin is still reflected in the bottom of the glass.

4. Now repeat the process but putting the glass on top of the coin. By filling it with water the coin will become invisible.

In the first part of the experiment we see the coin because the reflected light reaches our eyes. The light when passing from medium is diverted, as when passing from air to water, or from water to glass. This phenomenon is called refraction. However, if we look at the glass from another side, the refraction will make us believe that the coin has disappeared.
