Something similar happens to the egg of the following experiment for children. As you will see, the salt increases the density of the water making the thrust higher, therefore, the egg of the glass with salt water floats more than the first.

Materials

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 glasses of glass
  • Salt
Tip: The amount of water you have to pour must be enough to cover the egg completely.

How to make an egg float, step by step

1. Take two crystal glasses and fill them with water. Then introduce an egg into one of the glasses.

2. Pour salt into the glass that has no egg.

3. Remove the salt with a spoon so that it mixes well with the water.

4. Introduce the second egg into the glass of water with salt. You will see that it floats near the surface while the egg submerged in water without salt remains at the bottom of the glass.
