It is necessary to choose an appropriate time, of tranquility, when the child is relaxed, not occupied in another activity or interested in something else, and the adult is not in a hurry. You have to find an adequate environment, a comfortable and quiet space, without too much interference (noises, movements). A corner in which the child can sit next to an adult or on his knees, or lean on a low table, for example, to be able to have the position that is most comfortable for him to focus on.

An attitude that favors the encounter of the child with the adult around a story is also needed el: the adult must devote those few minutes, body and soul, to enjoy with the chosen book or magazine. If he enjoys, the child will perceive it and it will be easier for him to concentrate on the activity. You have to accept the reaction of the reader: sometimes it will be more dispersed, it will go away and return, or not ... But you have to continue reading or narrating the story a few minutes, because sometimes the child, apparently busy with something else, keeps listening .And do not force things too much: there are times when the child's spirit will not allow him to propose an activity that requires a certain stillness.

An excellent moment is the time to sleep, when the child is comfortably in his bed. A short story, told in a low voice, with a little fluency, will help you to disconnect from the day's activity, relax you and help you fall asleep (which is not always easy for you).

Encourage children to read before they learn to read

A child between 1 and 3 years old has a very limited capacity for attention, so the moments of approaching a book or a magazine will necessarily be short.

Among the huge editorial offer, we must choose carefully. Knowing the character of the child, his personality, his incipient tastes (but sometimes very marked) and taking into account his age, the adult has to choose carefully the support of reading: a book that the child can manipulate, a magazine with

different content adapted to your age and with large, attractive, recognizable drawings, that give you pleasure and also information. At these ages when the child still can not read, the image, the illustration, is a source of entertainment and knowledge (in fact the child makes a reading of images in which he discovers many objects and many nuances). Therefore, we must also look for books and magazines with good illustrations. The magazines have an added advantage: in the same issue, offers the child a wide range of illustration styles.
