Between 10 and 20 percent of Spanish children suffer some type of mental disorder and many of them do not identify themselves. Only one fifth of these cases are adequately treated. Today, the World Mental Health Day celebra is celebrated, there are still deficiencies because many people with mental illness do not receive social support or psychological rehabilitation.Available figures show that, in America, most children who need mental health care do not receive the necessary treatment. Speaking in economic terms, it is clear that the early treatment of children and adolescents can reduce the costs of care in later years as well as the social costs generated by antisocial behaviors that can result from the failure of early treatment in childhood.

Against the social rejection of children with mental disorders

According to the WHO, the celebration of this Day aims to sensitize the population about mental health problems. The annual reminder is intended to help foster a more open debate on mental disorders and promote investment in prevention, awareness and treatment services.

The lack of treatment of mental and neurological disorders , and those related to substance use is enormous, especially in countries with scarce resources.World Mental Health Day also wants to

fight against the stigma of social rejection. And that is that social rejection is one of the greatest mental health scars and they notice it. The World Mental Health Day wants to change the fear that society has to people with depression, Alzheimer's, bipolarity or schizophrenia problems by clear information, that helps the integration of children and people suffering from any disorder mental. And also, it is important to emphasize that the impact on the quality of life of families is considerable. Bearing in mind that mental illnesses hinder children's ability to learn and interfere significantly in the lives of people who suffer from it, and that mental disorders, as a whole, are the most frequent cause of burden of disease in Europe, ahead of them of cardiovascular diseases and cancer, one thing is for sure, without mental health there is no quality of life.
